Geobox Instalation on a Virtual Machine (Windows based)
Step 1 - If Sun's Virtual Box isn't installed on your PC, you must install it before other proceding. You must download the geobox.iso too (english our portuguese).
Step 2 - Start Sun's Virtual Box then click new button. This prompts the New Virtual Machine Wizard.
Step 3 - Define VM name, operating system (Linux) and version (Ubuntu).
Step 4 - Alocate amount of memory (RAM) of your VM.
Step 5 - Choose the type of hard disk. This prompts a new wizard.
Step 6 - Choose type of storage (dynamically expanding storage or fixed size storage). The first one it's better for sparse free disk space while the second offers better read/write performance. Allocate where hard disk will be stored. If fixed size storage is choosen, you must indicate the size of disk.
Step 7 - Click finish. This starts creating your VM. Wait some minutes. Congratulations, here is your VM.
Step 8 - In storage settings, click the 'cd' looking icon located on the storage tree.
Step 9 - Some new options are available on 'attributes'. On the right side of cd or dvd device there is a yellow like folder icon. Click it. You open the virtual media manager.
Step 10 - Click add button.
Step 11 - Appoint to your downloaded geobox.iso.
Step 12 - Boot VM.
Step 13 - Click all message boxes 'OK'. Choose live - boot the Live System option.
Step 14 - In Ubuntu screen, choose system menu and click install RELEASE. Password is 'geobox'. This prompts Ubuntu install wizard.
Step 15 - Follow wizard and install.
Step 16 - Unmount geobox.iso before VM restart.
Step 17 - GeoBox is ready!
